Trimble Connect Gets a COVID-19 Boost
Over the last decade, cloud-based platforms have proven their worth. Individuals and businesses have taken advantage of the cloud. But now more than ever, the cloud and the benefits it offers have come into clearer view.
Trimble Connect, one of the most significant collaboration platforms in the AEC sector, surpassed the 10-million user mark this month, according to Trimble’s recent press release, with 1.2 million of users signing on in March and April. The number of users inviting others to collaborate with them increased by 58 percent in April over the previous month.
When regular work routines are disrupted from the COVID-19 pandemic, cloud-based platforms can help. Cloud platforms like Trimble Connect ensure that project data is shared—without redundancy and confusion—all of it on one source and accessible to everyone. With these platforms, real-time collaboration is built in for all stakeholders.
Trimble Connects open API allows the integration of various applications, allowing users to tailor the application to their particular use. Users can access project files directly through a wide range of Trimble applications, including Tekla Structures, Trimble Access field software, Trimble Field Link, layout software, SketchUp, and ProjectSight, as well as third-party applications.
The Trimble platform currently hosts 80,000 construction projects.
Trimble Connect facilitates the open collaboration of players in the design and construction industry, streamlining decision-making processes and improving overall efficiency. Stakeholders work on projects by carrying out various operations on project information in realtime.
AEC firms can use Trimble Connect at several price points, including free, $10/month, and all the way up to $250/year/user for enterprises with the platform’s Business Premium plan.Trimble does not disclose how many of its 10 million users are not paying to use the platform, but if it is like SketchUp, the very popular 3D AEC CAD application, it might be most of them.
