The successful candidate will be capable of performing in a lead role to guide a project team through the implementation of the latest control and protective relaying design approaches on high voltage (4kV – 500kV) substation projects for utilities and industrial / commercial clients.The candidate would also lead the creation of engineering deliverables including relay panel arrangement drawings, single lines, three lines, AC and DC schematics, equipment wiring diagrams, relay panel wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, calculation of relay settings, and relay coordination studies.
In this role, it would be expected that the candidate plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates work requiring judgment in the independent execution of complex engineering tasks, manages assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
The selected individual may be asked to participate in the identification and hiring of newer, less experienced engineers and would also be asked to play a prominent role in their training / guidance.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from accredited program. PE certification strongly preferred, but is not mandatory. 5 years’ experience in the field of protective relay design. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
